A big part of the reason I originally started La Mercerie was because I was so inspired by the sewing and knitting communities. Whether in classes at my local stores or on Instagram, I am always inspired and encouraged by the people I have met. But recently, I've been craving more connection. This small business life can sometimes be pretty lonely and I find myself turning more and more to those people I have connected with through social media.
So when I got to meet Kjerste from Wax & Wool in person a few weeks ago after months of commenting back and forth, it was like all my worlds finally came together. The connection was instant and I immediately knew that we would be friends. And then when I was standing in line with an armful of yarn after JUST saying that I shouldn't buy anything else and our eyes locked from across the booth and we both just laughed, I knew we would be great friends.
And here we are, a few weeks and countless messages later, starting our first knitalong! Kjerste and I are both ridiculously obsessed with The Weekender sweater from Andrea Mowry (who isn't though, right?!) and have talked incessantly about how excited we are to cast on. So to celebrate our newfound friendship, we decided to host a knitalong!
The #instafriendskal is a way for us all to keep each other inspired and motivated to knit something cozy and warm this holiday season. No pressure, no stress, just lots of stockinette and maybe some hot cocoa. We will have a prize at the end of the knitalong for one random winner, but you don't need to finish your sweater to be eligible...just knit along with us!

The dates: Cast on's start today! We will be knitting through December and will pick a prize winner on December 31
The prize: TWO candles from Wax & Wool (Tree Farm and Amber Noir), one Wax & Wool project bag, one set of stitch markers from La Mercerie and a skein of yarn of your choice from La Mercerie, and a pattern of your choice from Andrea Mowry!
