Are you ready to take your spinning to the next level? 

In this intermediate 2.5-hour class, we’ll explore two game-changing techniques that will open up new creative possibilities in your handspun yarn: long draw and chain plying!

We’ll start with long draw spinning, a technique that creates soft, lofty singles compared to the relatively more smooth and dense singles that are achieved with the short-forward method of spinning. You’ll learn to let the fiber flow freely and find that the singles will practically spin themselves! 

Then we’ll twist things up with chain plying, a magical technique that turns your singles into a 3-ply yarn while maintaining the color sequences of the fiber - perfect for gradient or hand-dyed braids. Chain plying also opens the door to more intentional spinning, where you can explore different ways to split and spin your fiber for more thoughtful color placement. 

By the end of class, you’ll walk away with:

- A better understanding of fiber control and drafting techniques for long draw
- A step-by-step approach to chain plying on your wheel


This class is held in person at our Bainbridge Island shop on Sunday November 23 from 10:30am - 1:00pm.


What you’ll need for the class:

 

- A spinning wheel (we have a limited quantity available to rent at $20/week if you need, please email us if you're interested)

- One braid of colorful spinning fiber (we recommend Nube Malabrigo and Shaniko Yarn Jam)

Cancellation Policies:

If fewer than three spots are filled 72 hours before the class is scheduled to begin, the class will be canceled. A full refund will be issued and you will be notified.

If you need to cancel your registration for any reason, you must do so at least 72 hours prior to the start of the class in order to receive a full refund. We appreciate your understanding!
