Crochet Basket - December 4 & 11

In this two-part class, you’ll learn a fun and practical way to use up leftover yarns from your projects by creating a lined crochet basket. Together we’ll make a small basket (approximately 3" tall and 12" around), and you’ll leave with the skills and techniques to confidently design larger baskets on your own.

This workshop is designed for beginner crocheters who already know how to chain stitch and single crochet.

We’ll explore how to combine scrap yarns to create a marled fabric, make the base of the basket, and crochet seamlessly in the round. To spark your creativity, Nikki will also have a selection of finished baskets on hand, examples similar to the ones you’ll be making in class.

We’ll measure and sew a custom fabric lining, insert a wooden base for extra structure, and finish with hand stitching around the rim. To inspire future projects, Nikki will also share examples of larger baskets featuring different stitch patterns.

- US I-9 (5.5mm) and US J (6mm) crochet hook 

- Scrap yarns you have from leftover projects in a fingering weight, or just various fingering weight yarns

- Tapestry needle

We will provide the printed pattern, felt fabric, wooden base and sewing needles for use in class. Crochet hooks, tapestry needle and any extra yarn should be purchased separately. If you'd like to purchase supplies from us, contact us for a 15% off discount, but you're welcome to bring your own supplies! This project works great for scraps.
