Introducing Ampersand Fibers

Ampersand Fibers was created in an effort to find the perfect yarn - rustic, yet soft to the touch; comfortable, yet hard-wearing and long-lasting.
Exclusive to La Mercerie.

Available on Avenir Fingering, Caslon Fingering, Jenson DK, and Garamond Worsted.

am · per · sand

In old-English, when reciting the alphabet, any letter that could also be used as a word in itself ("A", "I", and, at one point, "O") was repeated with the Latin expression per se (meaning "by itself"). It was also common practice to add the "&" sign at the end of the alphabet as if it were a letter. The alphabet would end in "X, Y, Z, and per se and", often slurred into "ampersand".

This symbol therefore holds special meaning. It represents being both a part and a whole -
remaining an individual while at the same time being a part of something bigger.

It's a letter within a word,
a stitch within a garment.

100% single breed, corriedale wool

The yarn is 100% Corriedale, a breed originally developed from cross-breeding the fine wool of Merino sheep with the long wool of Lincoln sheep - resulting in a yarn that is soft to the touch, yet durable and strong. The longer staple length of the wool means that it is less prone to pilling over time.

Considered a medium wool, Corriedale is extremely versatile and can be used in a wide variety of projects from sweaters to hats to socks.
