Alder Shirtdress Pattern
The Alder Shirtdress is a classic, loosely fitted pattern that is easily customizable into many different variations. This is our new favorite dress pattern! The pattern comes with two options: view A is an A-line, shift dress, while view B features a gathered skirt at the sides and back of the dress.
Techniques involved in this pattern are: bust darts, bias facing armholes, shirt collars, gathering, and buttons & buttonholes. Grainline Studio offers a sew-along that makes many of these techniques incredibly clear and easy to follow.
Suggested Fabrics: Light to medium weight fabrics ranging from silk charmeuse, crepe de chine, cotton shirting, poplin, chambray, sateen, lightweight to midweight denim, linen, linen blends, and flannel. Extra fabric may be needed to match plaids, stripes, or one-way design prints.
Notions: thread, fusible interfacing, 9 - ⅜” to ½” buttons
